Smart switches · Jaipur

Smart switches in Jaipur. Your walls never find out.

The module goes inside the back box that is already in your wall, behind the plate you already own. The switch still works when you press it. Nothing gets chiselled, nothing gets repainted, and most homes are finished inside a day.

A switch plate lifted away from its back box and held to one side, still wired. Inside the box a small white Qubo one-channel relay module sits behind the switches, its live, neutral and switch terminals connected to the existing red, yellow and black wires. The plaster around the box is undamaged.
This is the entire job. The module goes into the back box that is already in your wall, wired to the cores that are already there. The plate you already own goes back over it. Nothing is chiselled and nothing is repainted. The terminals marked L and N are why the neutral wire question below decides your price.
Choosing a finish

Same wall, same box.
White or black.

Two finishes, both fitted into the back box already in your wall. Both use the plate size you already have, so the wall opening does not change. This is one room photographed twice: same camera, same light, nothing touched but the plate. Drag the handle.

Three ways to work it

You are not picking one of these. The same panel takes an instruction all three ways, and in most houses different people settle on different ones.

Touch

Press the panel on the wall, the way you have always pressed a switch. No phone, no account, no internet. This is the one that has to work for a guest, a child and a grandparent. So it is the one we test first, and the one we never trade away.

Phone

From the sofa, from the office, or from bed at midnight when you can see the porch light is still on. Every phone in the house gets access, not only the one that set the system up.

Alexa

Linked room by room, or not at all. Plenty of our customers have it in the kitchen and nowhere else, which is a perfectly reasonable place to land.

The question that decides your price

Does your switchboard
have a neutral wire?

In about one in four of the Jaipur boards we have opened, there is no neutral at the switch. The electrician ran only a live wire there, and took the neutral straight to the light. It was cheaper and it was legal, and it is why two identical-looking 2BHKs can quote about ten percent apart.

Most retrofit modules need that neutral to power themselves. Without one you have three honest options, and none of them is a disaster:

No-neutral modules

Purpose-built for exactly this wiring. Slightly dearer per point, and fussy with some LED bulbs. We test yours at the survey rather than guessing.

A different switch family

Some glass panels carry their own supply and sidestep the problem entirely. Costs more, looks different, and replaces your existing plate.

Pull a neutral

Sometimes there is a neutral within reach in the same conduit. If there is, this is the cleanest fix. If it means chiselling, we will tell you that before you decide.

You can settle this today, for free

Switch the circuit off at the MCB, unscrew the plate, photograph the wires, send it to us. We will tell you which of the three you are looking at and what it does to your number. No visit, no obligation, usually an answer the same day.

What the price includes

  • Modules for every switch on the circuits you choose
  • Fitting behind your existing plates, or new plates if you want them
  • App set-up on every phone in the house that wants it
  • Alexa or Google linking, room by room, or neither
  • Two scenes per room written with you at handover
  • First-year cover on top of the manufacturer warranty

What it does not include

  • Rewiring, chiselling or any civil work
  • Pulling a neutral where none is reachable
  • Replacing bulbs that will not dim cleanly. We will flag them at survey
  • Rectifying a board found unsafe. We will not build on top of one
  • Your internet connection

If a panel ever fails, it does not go back to the manufacturer

The standard answer in this trade is that a dead touch panel gets couriered to the brand and you live with a blank board for weeks. We run our own service bench here in Jaipur. Most faults are diagnosed and turned around in days, and a repair costs a fraction of what a replacement panel does.

It is also why we are comfortable recommending touch panels in the first place. We can stand behind one after the sale, not just up to it. How the service bench works

Asked at every survey

The questions,
answered plainly.

How much do smart switches cost in Jaipur?

Smart switches start at ₹7,000 a room, and most rooms land inside ₹7,000 – ₹13,000. That covers the modules, fitting behind your existing plates, app set-up on every phone in the house, and first-year cover on top of the manufacturer warranty.

Two identical-looking 2BHKs can still quote about ten percent apart, because of the neutral wire question below. The free survey settles your number before you commit to anything.

Do smart switches need a neutral wire?

Most retrofit modules need one, and about one board in four that we open in Jaipur does not have it. The electrician ran only a live wire to the switch and took the neutral straight to the light, which was cheaper and perfectly legal at the time.

No neutral is not a dead end. There are three honest routes, and we test which one your board needs at the survey instead of guessing. The full guide, with photographs of each wiring era

Do smart switches work without internet?

Yes. The panel on the wall keeps working when the internet is down, because touch control is wired rather than routed through a server somewhere.

The app and Alexa do need a connection, but nobody in the house is ever left unable to turn a light on. Touch is the control we test first at handover, and the one we never trade away.

Does fitting smart switches mean rewiring or breaking walls?

No. On a retrofit the module goes inside the back box already in your wall, wired to the cores already there, and the plate you already own goes back over it. Nothing is chiselled, nothing is repainted, and most homes are finished inside a day.

What we will not do is cut a new channel, or build on a board we find unsafe. If the board needs attention first, we say so at the survey and stop there.

Can I keep my existing switch plates?

Usually, yes, and plenty of people do, because they spent real money on them. The module hides in the back box and the plate goes back on exactly as it was.

The exception is a very shallow back box with no room behind it. We measure that at the survey, board by board, and tell you which ones need a swap before you commit.

Do I have to do the whole house at once?

No, and we would rather you didn't if you are unsure. One room costs ₹7,000 – ₹13,000 and is the cheapest honest way to find out whether your household actually likes living like this. If you are picking that room now, the order we recommend is worth two minutes.

Doing it all at once is meaningfully cheaper per room, because we are on site anyway. Doing it in stages is easier on the wallet and nothing gets orphaned. The same system takes the next room whenever you are ready.

What happens if I sell the house?

Two options, and neither needs a conversation with us first. Leave it, and the buyer gets a house where the switches work normally plus an app they can adopt or ignore. We will hand it over to them properly. Or take it with you. The modules come out in an afternoon and the board goes back to exactly how it was.

This is the practical argument for retrofit over ripped-out rewiring, and it is worth thinking about before anybody starts chiselling.
